PREZI WORDLE MIND MEISTER
Class commenced by having a series of groups present on selected web 2.0 tools. My group had to present on Wordle. Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text.
How we got that done?
wordle.net was not working on our browsers so we had to find an alternative, it was then we bounced into wordclouds.com which made it very simple: Firstly navigate to the website, then select the 'wizard' tab then select 'type of paste text' input desired then then generate. As easy as ACB right.
Here are some we created:
The main challenge was trying to find a suitable browser to run the java script. After going through Firefox, Chrome & internet explorer, we just decided to explore another option: namely wordclouds.com
The other group presented on Prezi which is a presentation software that uses motion, zoom, and spatial relationships to bring your ideas to life.
The 3rd presentation was on MindMeister: MindMeister is an online mind mapping application that allows its users to visualize, share and present their thoughts via the cloud.
To create a mind map, you simply go to mindmeister.com, sign up with gmail, navigate to New Mindmap, Select template then edit.
CONCLUSION
Wordle & MindMeister was very cool to work with, something I've always seen around but never knew how to create. This would serve as a great additive to an introduction for any lesson plan or activity. Class was mildly challenging but it was worth it.
