Week 2: Introduction to the Internet and issues in Media and Technology

So here we go again with the group activities!

OUR MISSION?

*2 Fold*

To select one of the following, define, give examples and of course present!
  • Netiquette, Internet vs. World Wide Web
  • Digital Native vs. Digital Immigrant, Asynchronous vs. Synchronous Communication
  • Google Search, Advance Search and Bookmarking
  • Creative Commons, Open Educational Resources and Fair Use
  • Viruses, Malware and Antivirus

Create 5 Classroom rules, design a poster then present it to the class!

So off we went, this time in groups of 4, we sought out to work smartly so we decided to split the task, Dijonya and I worked on the rules while Katrin & Concella worked on the research. The topic we received was Netiquette, Internet vs. World Wide Web. Everyone had their hands to the plow, researching, drawing, brain storming, taking pictures, it was such a race for time! Finally we were at a place where we could pool our ideas together and build on each others concepts. We nicely put the finishing touches to our rules poster and decided to employ a skit to present our research findings.

OUR CLASSROOM RULES!

 CHALLENGES?

The main challenge we faced was finding credible sources to extract information from for our research. Solution? Staying away from .coms .nets and sites like Wikipedia and using multiple sites to draw information from.

CONCLUSION!

I learned many new concepts through all the presentations in this session, Google advance search, Netiquette, Digital Native, Digital Immigrant and so much more. I plan to create classroom rules with each set of Students I encounter and utilize google advance search to save time when putting information together.
